2019 is the 50th anniversary of both the Stonewall Rebellion and the partial decriminalization of homosexuality in Canada. However, the modern gay movement started well before Stonewall, P.E. Trudeau’s law reform was less than it seemed, and other social movements set the stage in Nova Scotia for the emergence of what became contemporary 2SLGBTQIA+ activism. Join Robin Metcalfe and a panel of community historians as they consider the myths and realities of 1969 in Queer history.
